NFL 2023 At Least We Still Have DFS...Week 18 NFL 2023

Hopefully, your fantasy football season has come to a blissful end. (Under no circumstances should you be playing in Week 18). Even if it ended with a thud…we still have DFS.

Here is the thing: defenses still matter, and they are still sexy. So, let’s dive into some stats that will impact your DraftKings, Yahoo, or FanDuel NFL DFS lineups going forward.

From the Offensive Side

The usual suspects have allowed the most fantasy points to the defenses. These are the offenses and the average fantasy points they have allowed to opposing defenses.

Play your defenses against these offenses:

· New York Jets 12.4 average fantasy points/game

· New York Giants 12.3 average fantasy points/game

· Carolina Panthers 11.2 average fantasy points/game

· Washington Commanders 11.0/average fantasy points/game

· New England Patriots 10.7 average fantasy points/game

· Cleveland Browns 10.0 average fantasy points/game

If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Teams that will turn the ball or allow a lot of sacks will give the defense fantasy points.

2023 Offenses With the Most Turnovers

1. Cleveland Browns 35

2. New York Jets 32

3. Minnesota Vikings 32

4. Washington Commanders 29

5. Jacksonville Jaguars 28

2023 Offenses With the Most Interceptions

1. Cleveland Browns 21

2. New England Patriots 19

3. Washington Commanders 19

4. Las Vegas Raiders 18

1. New York Giants 83 (MON DIEU)

2. New York Jets 63

3. Carolina Panthers 62

4. Tennessee Titans 62

5. Washington Commanders 61

And Then…

Teams that play fast in high-scoring games or shoot-outs allow more fantasy points to opposing defenses.

Top 3 Fantasy Defenses

1. Dallas Cowboys 10.4

2. Baltimore Ravens 10.4

3. Miami Dolphins 9.6

So Now What….

Let's move on to Week 18, the DFS Week.

The Dallas Cowboys play Washington. The Cowboys are a 13.0-point favorite. It appears this is going to be fun without breaking any rules.

The Ravens will play Mason Rudolph and the Pittsburgh Steelers. I personally stay away from AFC North analysis. But the Ravens have the number one seed, and the Steelers have to win for a chance in the playoffs. That is all I have to say.

The Dolphins play the Buffalo Bills.

When they coined “must-see TV,” I’m sure they were talking about this game. The two teams are trending differently. The Dolphins are #2 in the playoff picture, and the Bills are #6. That means if the playoffs started today, Miami would play the Indianapolis Colts, and the Bills would play the Kansas City Chiefs.

I’m sure the Bills would like to change their fortunes.

I love defenses, and I love stats.

If you have questions, email me, and we can talk about the NFL all day.
